These images have been FOREVER in the making. I've been waiting to get these two little sweeties together for a good year for a set of pictures. This is, of course, my sweet little daughter with the glowing blue eyes. Her partner in crime is my beautiful, heart faced niece, Anna. The girls have been nothing short of thrilled being together- they can't seem to stop smiling and laughing. It was so wonderful to catch a little of that pure joy on film.
Bridget is about to embark on quite a challenge- a teenager and a newborn in the same house at the same time. :) I have a feeling all will go smoothly because this was a loving, sweet family. It was a really great day of shooting and I have to give much thanks for their patience in letting me go a little nutsy fiddling with some new ideas and techniques. I think I held them hostage about 4 hours!
Have to give a shout out to my amazing sister. Of all the things Misty does well, there is one thing she does VERY well. AMAZINGLY well. And she always has. Since childhood and vastly, vastly improving into adulthood. That is write. Since we were little she hasn't let a single book pass without a thorough reading. I, however, prefer to stick to magazines- so many pictures, so little text- love it! My sister, on the other hand, is a great big sponge for knowledge and if she can read it, she can go out somewhere and do it. Probably better. Than anyone.

This is Rachelle- such a trooper. We shot these images Friday. She's due on Sunday. For all the twisting and up and down off the floor I made her do I thought for sure she was going to head straight to the hospital after the pictures. But, stubborn baby is apparently very comfortable where she is because she is not budging. Good luck, Rachelle! Just remember, she can't stay in there forever! :)
I've enjoyed the last few hours in front of the computer with these photos. It's one of the greatest benefits of being a photographer; I put on my headphones and click, click away. I love when the pictures feel light and warm- they literally boost my mood just editing them. Over and over, the word "charming" kept coming to mind as I looked at these. Rebecca seems to have this youthful, sweet quality which takes over every image. Sweet 16, indeed.
This is a shoot from earlier last year that I simply never got around to posting. Probably because I'm deeply saddened by the fact my legs never have and never will look like this. Beautiful Taylor is an extremely talented ballerina who braved the streets of New Orleans dressed like it was carnival in the middle of the fall. It was quite a circus as many a passerby stopped to take a few cell phone shots of their own. You'd think in this city a site like this wouldn't seem out of place at all. In a few months she will spend two weeks at the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC then on to Canada for a summer intensive with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. I'm gushing a little because I'm so proud of her. Not a doubt about it, one day I will be saying "I knew her when..."
One of my favorite shoots ever! Absolutely devine, beyond words. It was just one of those times when everything came together flawlessly. The outfits, hair and makeup were meticulously put together by my lovely friend Shawna, mother to these two ridiculously good looking girls. Also, a big thanks to Ride Hamilton for the use of his home in the French Quarter. The interior shots feature his beautiful (and extensive) collection of vintage furnishing and collectibles.
Better late than never, right? My Christmas season is always a course in all-consuming-hectic-chaos. Posting pics from sessions between October and December is always a challenge ending with tons of great shots hiding on my hard drives. I'm trying to slowly but surely resurrect these little gems in a modified version of spring cleaning, or as I'm calling it, The Great File Resurrection of 2010. Here they come, in no particular order. Stay tuned this week as they pop up!
First up: Amelia- sweet and fun with a wardrobe to die for.
I took these shots with the delusional thought I'd have time to make a Christmas card of my own. Funny. Anyway, looking at these initially I just didn't dig em. Something about the way I positioned her bugged me; her chin is too sunken into her shoulders. But, a couple months later, with a little perspective, I kinda like them. Not my favorites, but hey, it's pictures of Remi, and there isn't a lovelier subject to be found.
